Just Another Week

A few days ago, I was in my kitchen, cleaning (imagine that), and I came across a half empty plastic water bottle. We try not to use disposable plastic water bottles, but invariably, we end up using them sometimes. We find ourselves at an event and thirsty, so we buy one. We were providing snack bags for a team, so we bought some, and now we need to use the leftovers. And no matter where they originated from, they end up half empty in my kitchen. Why? How? It defies logic. And the half empty ones seem to multiply if left alone overnight. I used to drink them. Then, this winter, the flu swept through our house and now I don’t want to share any utensils, drinks, or chairs (I just threw that last one in). So, now I dump them out and recycle them. If I am thinking (I think we have established that most times, I am not thinking), I water the plants with them. On this morning I was planning to dump the water in the sink and recycle the bottle. Instead, I opened the trash/recycling, took off the cap, and dumped the water into the trash can. I was nearly done with the deed before I realized what I was doing. I attempted to swing the offending water bottle to the sink, and of course flung water all over the counter. I am not sure why I didn’t just tip it up and stop the flow. Seriously, what is going on? I am taking that, “Why did I walk into this room?” feeling and applying it in new ways.

Later that same morning, I went to brush my teeth and I squeezed Heel Balm onto my toothbrush. Heel Balm, as in cream for my feet. Admittedly, I should not store toothpaste and Heel Balm in the same drawer because they come in similar tubes, but I have been storing them together for years with no problem. I am not sure why these things are becoming problems. I feel like my head is full of foot cream. I guess it would have been if I had tried to brush my teeth before realizing what I did. But I figured it out first, so I changed out my toothbrush. Just the thought of foot cream on my toothbrush was too much.

Completely unrelated, I realized that perhaps most of the 40,000 miles I have put on Bert, the SUV of questionable origin, have come from driving back and forth to the high school. The other 15,000 miles on Bert definitely have a better story to tell. The other day, I dropped the kids off at school, since we are down to two cars at home because the third is in the shop. Later, Taryn drives me to school for work, so she can have Bert for job applications. Taryn picks me up from work. I pick up Tayden from an after school event. I drive back to the school for an awards event for Tessa. Just that day, the car traveled back and forth to the school five times. And I was in it for at least one direction each time. Am I the only one? Does anyone else travel to the school five times in a day? There is NO WAY my mom went back and forth to the school that many times in a day, and she had 12 kids. I am clearly doing something wrong. I guess I’ll figure it out later. For now, I’ll just be happy to not brush my teeth with foot cream. Have a great week everyone! And finish your water bottles!
