So now we have hit the doldrums of this virus. We are all bored to infinity and beyond. Indiana opens its restaurants at 50% on Monday. I’m not sure whether I want to run out and eat out, or just continue on hunkering down here. I’m not sure I want to be in the next round of Covid patients. See, just because things are opening up, it doesn’t mean that the virus is gone. It just means that the emergency rooms have room for you. There’s a ventilator waiting for you, if necessary. Oddly, I don’t find that comforting.
We also have the sale of our lakehouse going on. Our realtor friend reminded us that it’s not really much of a house…but the views and the waterfront! I reminded him, “location, location, location!” Actually, we have interested buyers and a fair price. They probably think it’s on the high end of fair. Travis thinks it’s on the low end of fair. I think it’s time to sell it, and we have a buyer offering a fair price. It would be easier if that house wasn’t all wrapped up in our vacation memories. Good times happened there! We made friends with the neighbors. I am overly emotional right now anyway, and this isn’t helping. But we bought our property here in Valpo with the idea of selling the lakehouse and maybe travelling more. Of course, we are following through with this plan at a time that we can’t travel at all. It makes things sadder (if that is a word). Truth is, it will be hard to afford the lakehouse, the Valpo house, and 2-3 kids in college. Everything needs money tossed its way…and there’s only so much money to toss. I have to prioritize the tossing of money, and I want the kids to move out eventually, so I will toss money at their education.
So sometimes we go to the lake in an effort to move things we want to keep. There is way, way too much stuff there, and I don’t know where to put it here. So, there’s that. Since we aren’t closing (if all goes well) until early July, we aren’t in the “panic rush to move” that actually motivates my family to start moving! So again, we are in the doldrums of that sale, pretending that we are actually getting something done, and not playing with the neighbors’ baby chickens. Ken and Mel’s daughter Macy is the owner of those chickens, and after so many years at the lake, we are just now getting to know them better. And we move.
So, we continue in stall mode. The girls finished their spring semesters for college. The boys continue needing prodding to complete their schoolwork. Trent continues to try to work in sales for ADP in an environment not necessarily conducive to sales. Travis continues to work. I get to go to the school to work occasionally and work from home when necessary. Don’t ever underestimate the creep factor of a completely empty school!
Have a safe week everyone! Happy humpday!
I’m totally with you regarding the leaving of the memories behind that come with moving, albeit we are not selling a vacation home. But I am excited to see you have interested buyers!!!
